Your guide
You will be accompanied by certified local cycling guides with extensive knowledge of the area. They will not only lead you safely along the route but also share the secrets of the Trabocchi Coast, the stories of its fishermen and the fascinating history of the Abbey, conveying their genuine passion for this remarkable land.
The experience begins with a warm welcome near the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere...
Here you will be provided with your e-bike, with saddle adjustment and a brief introduction on how to use the pedal-assist system.
We then set off along the Via Verde, heading down towards the stunning coastal cycle path.
We cycle in complete relaxation just a stone’s throw from the sea, admiring hidden coves, natural reserves, and the silhouettes of the trabocchi* rising above the water.
*A trabocco is a traditional wooden fishing machine on stilts, typical of the Adriatic coast, and especially of this area, where many can be seen along the cycling path. These historic structures have been used for decades as a traditional method of fishing, deeply rooted in the local coastal culture.
In any case, along the route there will be a snack stop (to experience the Abruzzese tradition of the sdijuno!).
Those who wish to enrich the tour with a visit to a trabocco, discovering how these traditional fishing structures work and learning about their history, and to enjoy a sunset aperitivo right above the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, can book the afternoon tour available from Thursday to Saturday.
After exploring the coastline, we will also be captivated by history as we ride back up towards the promontory to visit the majestic Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, which overlooks the sea from above, offering unforgettable panoramic views.
The visit to this ancient monastery brings the experience to a close, and we will return to the starting point.
