Legend tells that in the Sibyl's cave, located on 'Mount Sibyl', lived a 'great prophetess who rarely revealed her benevolent secrets.Necromancers and wandering knights came from all over Europe on exhausting journeys in the hope of receiving a few wise words from the Sibyl. This mountain chain is one of the most important in the Apennines and the highest in Le Marche with its peaks exceeding 2,000 metres.
Nowadays, the Sibillini Mountains are a protected natural area where high mountain landscapes merge with pastures and plateaus.
In these places, ancient craft traditions are preserved and people are dedicated to cattle breeding (the Sibillini pecorino cheese is famous) and agriculture, with the cultivation of cereals and legumes (do you know the lentils from the Castelluccio plateau?).
This area is perfect for immersing oneself in nature.
Hiking enthusiasts are in the right place! There is something for everyone, from the most relaxing to the most challenging, from high mountains to green grassy valleys.

TRAVEL JOURNAL
DAY 1
Upon arrival in the Sibillini Mountains Natural Park, we recommend starting your stay with a hike. Let our suggestions inspire you to find the one that best suits you.
We also suggest visiting the nearby village of Montemonaco, with its still intact medieval walls enclosing the historic centre. In addition to a museum dedicated to the Sibyl, you will enjoy breathtaking views over the Sibillini mountain range and Mount Vettore (the highest peak in the Marche region). Walking along the village walls, you will also find a well-equipped playground with trails designed for both children and adults, all overlooking the mountains.
In the afternoon, you will arrive at the agriturismo where you will settle into your accommodation for the night: a panoramic glamping tent with a private garden and swimming pool, allowing you to fully enjoy relaxation facing the Sibillini mountain range.
Before dinner, join Andrea and Carlo in the cowshed. You will meet their cows, which at this time of day need to be milked. Roll up your sleeves and take part in the milking experience. The milk collected will be used for the following morning’s breakfast, as well as for the production of yoghurt and cheese.
Dinner and evening at leisure. Let our suggestions inspire you to make the most of your evening!*
* Those leaving with Rurally will receive before departure a booklet containing ideas and tips for lunch and dinner breaks and visits to the surrounding area.
DAY 2
In the morning, after breakfast at the farm, we recommend setting off on an excursion.
You may choose to climb Mount Sibilla, or opt for a more relaxed walk along the Infernaccio Gorge, where the stream has carved a narrow and deep valley.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Ambro is also well worth a visit, with a pleasant walk along the stream of its fresh, icy waters.
Alternatively, if you prefer two wheels, why not enjoy an e-bike tour to discover these landscapes with the help of your guide Alessandro, a certified Park guide?
Or you may meet Giulia and her unique farm, where Sopravissana sheep wool is processed, and where she shares a very special story about how she began her work as a wool artisan.
