Federico, your local guide, has a deep connection with Montefiore dell’Aso and its surrounding hills. Together with his father, a winemaker, he has chosen to enhance the local resources by producing a unique wine, made from the family vineyards and aged in a remarkable natural cave. His passion and authentic approach will accompany you throughout the experience, sharing the story of the land through its wine.

THE EXPERIENCE – Between History and Wine

Montefiore dell’Aso is a village with ancient origins dating back to the Iron Age. In the Middle Ages it became a free municipality and later became part of the Papal States, preserving its historic charm and stunning views to this day.

Beneath the historic centre lies a hidden underground world of ancient man-made caves, once used to store agricultural products thanks to their naturally stable temperature and humidity. During the visit, you will step inside these evocative spaces, where Federico and his father produce a small quantity of a special wine.

You will discover the production techniques and learn how the unique microclimate of the caves gives the wine its distinctive character, deeply connected to the territory.

Walk and panoramic tasting

The experience continues with a pleasant walk through the village alongside Federico, who will share stories, insights and anecdotes about its most significant places, while you enjoy beautiful views over the rolling Marche hills.

The tour concludes in a traditional inn in the historic centre, featuring a panoramic terrace overlooking the hills and the sea. Here, you will enjoy a guided tasting of the cave-aged wine, discovering its distinctive aromas and unique characteristics shaped by the natural ageing environment. The tasting is accompanied by a selection of typical local products and traditional dishes. A truly authentic moment that brings together flavours, landscape and conviviality.

The experience can be further enriched, upon request, with guided visits to some of the village’s most significant sites.

These include the Cloister of San Francesco, which also houses a section dedicated to rural life, with tools and reconstructions that illustrate the daily life of local farming communities.

Another highlight is the Clock Museum, located inside Palazzo Montani, a fascinating space dedicated to the history of timekeeping. Here, visitors can admire a rich collection of mechanical clocks, sundials, hourglasses and ancient instruments tracing the evolution of time from the Roman era to the modern age, including 19th-century mechanisms, restored tower clocks and pieces from different periods and countries.

It is also possible to join individually by joining a group (minimum 4 people).
